The national agency tasked with alleviating flooding will not carry out works to protect one of Clare's most infamous flooding blackspots.

The OPW has assessed three options for works at Springfield, Clonlara, but all failed a cost-benefit analysis.
Instead, works will be carried out by Clare County Council, under a Minor Works Scheme and the local authority has told Clare FM they have applied for funding for the appointment of a consultant to find solutions to the flood problems.
Clonlara Councillor Michael Begley thinks using the Minor Works Scheme may be the quickest solution.
