Opposition parties say new mortgage arrears figures from the Central Bank point to a full blown national crisis.

The latest data released today shows that 1 in 8 residential mortgage holders are now in arrears, while 1 in 5 of buy-to-let owners are in trouble.
The figures show that while there’s a slowdown in the rate at which people are getting into arrears, there are still a thousand homeowners a month getting into difficulty.
