Opposition against proposed Shannon Crematorium to be heard at public meeting

A public meeting in Shannon tonight will hear opposition against plans to develop a crematorium in the town.

Clare County Council has agreed to sell a 1.3 acre site at Illaunamanagh which is set to be home to the first crematorium in the MidWest.

Planning permission has also been secured by developr Jim Cranwell, but some local don't want the project to go ahead.

Ahead of tonight's meeting at the Oakwood Arms Hotel, organiser Michelle Hayes has argued that the site in question is not suitible.
