Just 18 herds in this county were eligible for the scheme which is the lowest number in the country after Leitrim where just three herds qualified.

The total amount to be visible in Clare farmers’ bank accounts in the coming days as a result of the scheme is €15,980.

Leitrim farmers have been awarded the smallest amount which was just shy of €5,000 while Wexford is to be given the lion’s share of almost €5.4 million.
