Few believe that debt forgiveness is a realistic option though as just 22% of those surveyed on www.clare.fm say that wiping out mortgages will be considered by the government when new relief measures are announced in the coming months.

29% of those surveyed online want to see higher mortgage interest relief, while 30% believe rental schemes for those who face losing their homes could be the answer.
