One person has been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision on the M18 this morning.
The incident was one of two that occurred on the same stretch of the motorway between junction 11 Dromoland and junction 10 Newmarket on Fergus.
The first crash happened at around 8.10am at Carrigoran just before junction 10 (Newmarket on Fergus). Three cars collided in lane 2 of the southbound carriageway.
While emergency services were responding to that incident they were notified of a second incident further north on the M18 closer to Dromoland.
Gardaí and National Ambulance Service paramedics responded to both incidents. Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Shannon station attended the first collision.
Units of the fire service from Ennis station responded to the second incident along with Gardaí and ambulance paramedics.
That two-car collision occurred at Dromoland just past junction 11. The occupants of both vehicles were assessed by paramedics and one person as transported to hospital as a precaution.
Both incidents were cleared by 10.10am and motorway fully reopened.
