Shannon Airport has a one hour window this afternoon to secure a tourism boost for the region.
In an unprecedented move, German airline EuroWings has launched a social media competition to decide its latest route out of Cologne.
Shannon is down to the last three in the competition, going up against Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Trapani in Italy.
