Roughly one fifth of dwellings in Clare audited this year have been given an A rating.
New data from the Central Statistics Office shows of the over 1,800 domestic properties in the county assessed since the beginning of the year, just 56 received the highest grade.
A building energy rating, or BER, is a certificate that indicates the energy performance of a building, with the ratings ranging from A to G.
Since the start of 2025, 1,801 BER audits have taken place in this county.
The most common BER received by a building was C, with 26% of homes getting this grade.
A whole 21% of properties were rated either A1, A2 or A3, while A1 was the least common grade in the county, with just 56 dwellings achieving this rating.
The data shows also that heating oil remains the most popular energy source in Clare as it’s used by over half of domestic buildings.
