Over One Billion Investment Announced By LCETB For Region Up To 2026

Over one billion euro will be invested by the Limerick Clare Education and Training Board in the region up to 2026.

This includes the development of a new training centre in Shannon, focusing on aviation.

The Limerick Clare Education and Training Board this morning launched their five-year strategy for 2022 to 2026.

It was developed during the pandemic and as such is reflective of new and unprecedented social, economic and cultural opportunities and challenges.

The plan is formulated in relation to four major goals – high quality student and learner experiences, staff support and organisational development, good governance and organisation-wide partnership.

Over one billion euro will be invested in both Clare and Limerick to further the education of learners.

This includes an operational budget for that period of over €170m and a capital investment on a yearly basis of €150m.

One of the main investments planned between here and 2026 is a new ETC training campus in Shannon.

Chief Executive of the LCETB, George O’Callaghan says it will be a huge boost for the area.

A key element of the plan, was that it was created in partnership with learners, stakeholders and employers in the region.

Shelagh Graham, Director of Organisation Support and Development with LCETB is confident that the board is ‘in synch’ with the needs of local communities in Clare.
