O'[Leary Calls for Common Sense Aer Lingus Negotiations

Ryanair chief Michael O'Leary's called for a 'common sense' approach to talks on the Aer Lingus slots at Heathrow.

The issue has raised concerns here in the Midwest about Shannon Airport and the impact any sale could have on the facility – it's been the subject of a special Oireachtas Committee hearing last week.

Prominent business people have already said the Heathrow slots are vital to economic sustainability in the Midwest –  while today Clare County Councillors will hold an emergency meeting to voice their fears on the issue. 

But Michael O'Leary says they're 'largely irrelevant', and that more Irish passengers are choosing to use other airports when they travel through London.
