October Was Shannon’s Driest In 50 Years

Last month saw the driest October at Shannon Airport in over half a century.

Met Eireann's summary of the month shows their Shannon weather station recorded only a third of the usual rainfall last month, a level last seen in 1955.

Clare was also home to the warmest temperature in October, with the thermometers hitting 18.3 degrees early in the month.

There were also 84 hours of sunshine across the month but, perhaps surprisingly, the average temperature throughout the month was only slightly higher than is typically the case.
