October Deadline For Ireland’s Bank Debt Deal

The Education Minister says the Government is making "slow but steady progress" on the renegotiation of Ireland’s bank debt.

At a meeting in Brussels last night, Eurozone Finance Ministers set a deadline of October for a final deal on the debt.

The Cabinet will be briefed in full on the agreement by the Finance Minister Michael Noonan, at some stage today – and on the decision to assist Spanish banks.
