OCI To Hold Emergency Board Meeting To Discuss Rio Ticketing Scandal

The Olympic Council of Ireland will hold an emergency board meeting today in the wake of the Rio ticketing scandal.

It follows the arrest of its President Pat Hickey and Kevin Mallon amid an investigation by Brazilian authorities into claims of touting. 

Both men deny any wrongdoing.

The Government has announced a non statutory inquiry into the controversy which Minister Shane Ross says will take 12 weeks to complete its work. 

Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes says he believes Minister Ross has handled the situation well
