The Olympic Council of Ireland has put together a 'crisis management' team to investigate the Rio ticket scandal.
The decision follows an emergency meeting of its executive committee in Dublin overnight.
While in Rio, a warrant has been issued for police to confiscate the passport of the FAI's John Delaney.
Members of the Olympic Council of Ireland's executive committee met at half nine last night in the offices of Arthur Cox solicitors in Dublin to discuss the Rio ticket scndal.
They didn't walk back outside until 2:30am – by which time they had decided to to tackle the matter.
Their first priority will be to put together a 'crisis management' team.
On it will be Sarah Keane of Swim Ireland, Prof Ciaran O'Cathain of Athletics Ireland and Robert Norwood from the Snowsports Association.
Then the Olympic Council says it will hire an international accountancy firm to conduct an independent review of ticketing arrangements.
And its report will be given to the judge chairing the State inquiry into the controversy.
On the other side of the world a criminal investigation is underway with teh latest development involving the chief executiveof the FAI John Delaney.
Mr Delaney, who also serves as the Vice-President of the OCI, is among 6 people named on a warrant calling for the surrender of their passports.
Three of those exectives have already handed over their passports and had their phones and laptops seized.
They will submet themselves to police stations tomorrow for questioning.
Meanwhile the president of the OCI Pat Hickey is due to appear before a judge tomorrow.
He could be facing up to seven years in jail if found guilty of ticket touting.
