Councillors have approved plans for the comprehensive development at O'Brien's Tower at the Cliffs of Moher.

Works which are to be carried out there include a new concrete roof, paving slabs and handrails, as well as lighting and other associated works.

O'Brien's Tower was build in 1835 by local landowner Cornelius O'Brien, and Councillors had been told that the works are "critical" to prevent damage being caused to it by water, as well as allowing it to be used by staff and visitors to the Cliffs.
