Obama Seeks Gun Control Action

The US President Barack Obama says he hopes to see new gun control laws passed within the next year.

In the wake of the Newtown school shootings, in which 27 people were killed, Mr Obama has been under pressure to address the issue of gun control.

He says he will put forward a plan as recommended by the task force headed by Vice President Joe Biden.

And he says he’s ‘sceptical’ of proposals by gun lobbyists to put armed guards in schools.
