Obama hails Northern Ireland peace achievements

The US President says the achievement of peace in Northern Ireland gives the whole world hope – but there is still much work to do.

Barack Obama- who arrived in the North this morning ahead of the G 8 summit – says there are still wounds that haven’t healed, still a lot of mistrust, walls still stand and there are still many miles to go in the process.

He also says the peace in the North has been tested and it will be tested again.

However – speaking at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast this morning – President Obama says Belfast is now a different city.
