President Obama says he’s asked Congress to postpone any decision on military action in Syria, so a diplomatic solution can be pursued.
But in a special address from the White House, he said he remains cautious about Russia’s plan for Syria to hand over its chemical weapons to the international community.
He also told Americans why a military response to the situation in Syria might still be needed – but added he’s willing to give diplomatic efforts a chance first.
