The number of passengers getting on flights to and from Shannon Airport has increased for the fourth year in a row.
The latest quarterly figures from the Central Statistics Office show almost 370,000 travellers passed through the Clare base between January and March alone.
In the first three months of the year, approximately 369,726 passengers got on flights to and from Shannon.
It marks a 13% increase in activity at the MidWest Airport from the over 328,000 flyers handled this time last year and it’s also the busiest first quarter recorded in Shannon for eleven years.
Services to London-Heathrow, London-Gatwick and London-Stansted remained the most popular inbound and outbound routes for Shannon during this time.
Over the three months, 68,319 passengers flew to the English capital from Shannon, while 68,793 arrived here coming in the opposite direction.
The Boston-Logan service was the next most popular, with over 9,900 departing Shannon and over 9,100 taking the flight in Clare.
Over 35,000 flyers availed of services to and from Krakow and Wroclaw, more than 17,800 availed of flights to and from Lanzarote, while a total of 16,560 passengers boarded inbound and outbound flights to New York JFK.
Over 14,000 used the Manchester service to and from Shannon, while 13,800 were on flights to and from Tenerife.
Between January and March, Shannon Airport also handled 3,758 air freight journeys.
