The number of Ukrainian refugees residing in Clare is continuing to fall.
Newly-released Clare County Council data shows multi-occupancy facilities like hotels and B&Bs were accommodating 40 fewer Ukrainians in April compared to March.
As of April 11th, there are 5,048 Ukrainian Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection, or BOTPs, living in Clare.
This indicates a decrease of 13 from the previous month.
A total of 1,224 Ukrainians are being hosted in multi-occupancy facilities here which is down 40 on the figure for March.
It’s claimed the remaining Ukrainian refugees are living in residential settings in formal hosted arrangements though the Irish Red Cross and the local authority’s Offer-a-Home scheme.
It’s also stated the local authority’s Matching and Relationship Manager has facilitated the accommodation of 492 people formerly situated in multi-occupancy facilities to date.
It marks the second month in a row when the number of Ukrainians living here fell to its lowest point since November 2023 when the figure was 4,947.
Clare continues to have the sixth-highest number of Ukrainian refugees after Dublin, Cork, Kerry, Donegal and Galway, while the Ennistymon local electoral area is still hosting the most as a percentage of its population, with Ukrainians accounting for 10.81% of its residents.
