The number of Clare homes bought by private companies, charities and state institutions reached a record high last year.
New CSO figures show the number of properties bought by non-households in this county has more than doubled in the last five years.
A total of 1,638 homes were purchased in Clare last year, with the vast majority of 82% snapped up by households.
However, 287 were bought by a combination of institutional investors, companies, charities and state bodies, the highest amount ever recorded in this county and a 28% increase in the space of the last twelve months.
It was also the tenth-highest total of homes bought by non-household entities of any county nationwide, to a sale value of €77.7m.
The average price paid for a home in Clare last year by either a company, charity or state body was €330,000.
83% of the properties purchased by non-households in this county last year were on the open market, with just 17% purchased off-market.
