This figure is an increase of 50 from the number of homeless children in the region at the end of 2023, representing an increase of 37%.

The figure is 16 lower than what was recorded at the end of November, when 201 children were accessing emergency accommodation in the Midwest.

Various homeless charities had indicated in the run up to Christmas that this may be the case however, as other family members take people in over the festive period.

Meanwhile, the number of people in Clare accessing emergency accommodation at the end of 2024 has also seen an increase within the year.

Last year saw 92 people in homelessness in the Banner county in the final week of the year.

This is 12% increase from the 82 recorded at the same stage of 2023.

There was again a decrease seen between November and December in the amount of people in emergency accommodation, with 3 more people seen in homelessness at the end of November last year.
