Number Of New Homes Sold In Clare Down 75% In A Month

The number of new homes sold in Clare has fallen by 75% in the space of a month.

The CSO’s latest Residential Property Price Index also shows the average purchase price for a home in this county is down €40,000 in the same timeframe.

The average price paid for a new or existing dwelling in Clare was €257,380 in April, which is down significantly from the figure of €297,000 recorded in March.

51 houses were sold in total last month, 48 of these were second-hand properties and just 3 were new.

While in March, 67 homes were sold, 55 of these were existing dwellings and 12 were new homes.

Notably, no new homes were sold in the Kilrush electoral area in the last two months, with all 12 property transactions in West Clare in April involving second-hand homes.

The average price of a home sold there last month was just over €192,000 and five purchases were made by first-time buyers.

In Ennis, 33 properties were sold for an average price of €275,000; 32 of those were second-hand and five were purchased by first-time buyers.

In Shannon, there were six transactions and the mean price paid for a home was €263,375, here just one property was snapped up by a first-time buyer.
