The national 14-day incidence rate of COVID-19 is now 291 cases per 100,000.

Cavan’s incidence over the past fortnight stands at over 1,000, which is double every other county apart from Meath which is at 652.

Here in Clare, however, there are encouraging signs, with the incidence rate dropping to 308.

This means the banner now has the 9th highest rate in the country, compared to 3rd almost a fortnight ago.

Meanwhile, there are 305 people being treated in hospitals across the country for Covid-19, a slight drop on yesterday’s figure.

The numbers have gone up by two at University Hospital Limerick though, where 14 patients are being treated for the virus, 1 of those in the Intensive Care Unit.

There are an additional 18 suspected cases at the Dooradoyle facility.
