Around 410 purchasers in that age group were recorded in this county last year.

The number of people traditionally at first time buyer’s age buying property in this county has spiked dramatically in recent years, despite house prices jumping and supply constraints locally.

New data from the Central Statistics Office shows nearly 1,000 property purchasers here were aged between 24 and 44 in 2021 – though more of those were aged over 35 than under it.

That’s a near fourfold jump from 2011, though that was in the middle of the last economic crash cycle where very little construction activity was taking place.

The number of people aged 24 or under buying property in county Clare, unsurprisingly, remains very low.

600 purchasers last year were classified as being between 45 and 64, which is also a threefold jump on a decade ago.

However, the number of people aged 65 or over buying property has declined slightly in this county in recent years.

Overall, there were 1,700 purchasers of all ages in Clare in 2021 – a figure that’s now back around pre-pandemic levels.
