The family of Patrick Nugent say they’ve received a ‘timescale’ from the Department of Justice on when a report into his death will be released.
The Sixmilebridge native was working as a banqueting manager in Bunratty when he lost his life in 1984.
The jury at his inquest later ruled he had been accidentally hit by a car after he had been struck by a person or persons unknown.
No one has been convicted in relation to his death.
The government received the report of Judge Patrick Clyne on November 3rd last though has yet to publish its findings, and the Nugent family met with department officials on Friday in relation to the matter.
Legal representatives for the Nugent family say in a statement that they’ve received “a very firm commitment” to finally release what’s a 111 page report.
Patrick’s sister-in-law Deirdre Nugent says in the statement the wait for the report has been “terribly frustrating” but that the family feels they are “about to turn the corner”.
It’s understood further engagement between the Department and the family will take place before the report is finally published.
