NTA To Explore Extending Operating Area Of Ennis Town Bus Route

The National Transport Authority is to explore extending the operating area of the proposed Ennis town bus route.

The long mooted service is expected to come on stream in the next 18 months and will aim to provide rapid transit throughout the town, culminating at Ballymaley Business Park.

However residents of nearby Barefield have called for the final stop to encompass the village, citing a lack of available public transport services.

Fine Gael Councillor, Mary Howard has raised the matter at this months meeting of the Ennis Municipal District, where the NTA initially poured cold water on the ammendment, before committing to carrying out a feasibility study.

The Former Mayor of Ennis is hopeful the NTA will see the benefits on offer for the local community.
