A Clare-based writer claims the west of the county served as the primary inspiration for his new award-winning novel.
Kilmihil author Niall Williams’s ‘Time of the Child’ is this year’s recipient of the prestigious Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year Award.

The book is set in the fictional West Clare village of Faha during the Christmas of 1962 and centres on a father and daughter whose lives are changed immeasurably when a baby is left in their care.
Niall says a coastal community in Clare was the ideal backdrop to the story.
