Do Not Swim Notices Lifted At Popular Clare Bathing Areas

A do not swim notice at two popular East Clare attractions has been lifted.

Separate bathing prohibition were issued for both Mountshannon and Ballycuggeran, Lough Derg following the discovery of an algal bloom at both sites.

In accordance with An Taisce’s Blue Flag programme, the Blue Flags were temporarily removed until such time as the water quality improved.

However Clare County Council, on the advice of the HSE has today deemed both sites safe for swimming.
