Independent Councillor Ann Norton has been elected the new Mayor of the Ennis Municipal District.

The Barefield-based representative was proposed for the role unanimously by her fellow councillors and will hold the post for 12 months.

She replaces Clarecastle-based Fine Gael Councillor Paul Murphy in the role, who has been elected to the role of Deputy Mayor of the District.

It’s Councillor Norton’s second term as Mayor, having previously served between June 2016 and June 2017.
