North Clare Wheelchair User Says ‘Carrot And Stick Approach’ To Disabled Parking Lacking Enforcement

A North Clare wheelchair user says the ‘carrot and stick’ approach to handling the misuse of disabled parking spaces is lacking in enforcement.

The Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland is calling for a loophole in the legislation which means that gardaí and traffic wardens can’t issue fines in private car parks to be amended.

At present, drivers are relying on the management of private car parks to monitor and adress issues regarding the use of disabled parking.
