North Clare Sees Largest Drop In Live Register Figures

North Clare has seen the biggest drop in the number of people signing on the live register in the county.

A total of 940 in the region are drawing the dole there as of the end of May – down 80 on the April figure.

This is the first time since October 2010 that the number has dropped below a thousand.

There was also a significant fall in West Clare, where 70 people came off the live register, while the figure was 14 in the greater Ennis area.

Overall around Clare, there are 6,002 people signing on – 12.2 percent less than at the same time last year.
