North Clare Road Safety Campaigner Claims ‘Nothing Has Changed’ On N67 Two Years On From Husband’s Death

A North Clare road safety campaigner claims ‘nothing has changed’ on one of the county’s busiest national secondary roads, over two years on from her husband’s death.

Jerry O’Connor was killed in a road traffic collision on the N67 in 2023, when he was struck by a car driven by a tourist, which was travelling on the wrong side of the road.

From September 7th, Helga Himmelsbach will undertake a 120km walk and cycle from Kilrush to Kinvara to honour the memory of her late husband.

She says a sparse amount of road signs is not enough to reinforce safe driving behaviours.
