North Clare Postmaster Says Subvention Measures Could Allay Fears Of Widespread Closures

A North Clare postmaster says a potential Government subvention for the post office network could allay fears of potential widespread closures across the country.

It’s understood the State’s preparing to pay post offices up to €1,000 a month to keep them open, in what would be the first time such a support package has been offered.

An 8.5 million euro support package postmasters which was delivered last July is to run out at the end of this year.



Speaking with Clare FM’s Josh Prenderville, Ennistymon postmaster and local Fianna Fail Councillor Shane Talty believes there’s still a public desire to maintain a strong post office network.
