North Clare now has one of the highest incidence rates of COVID-19 in Munster.
The prevalence of the virus has increased in four of this county’s five electoral areas in the past week.
There were 130 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the Ennistymon electoral area in the 14 days up to this past Monday.
That means its incidence rate of the virus stands at 792.3 per 100,000 people, which is more than double the current national average.
It’s a 60 percent increase on last week’s number.
While the prevalence of the virus is second highest in Kilrush out of the five electoral areas here, it’s less than half of that number.
74 cases in West Clare in the past 14 days see its figure stand at 352.5.
102 cases have been confirmed in the Ennis region, though its higher population means its number sits at 330 per 100,000.
66 cases in East Clare mean the Killaloe area’s rate has increased only slightly to 328.2.
Shannon is the only region in the county to see a drop in the prevalence of the virus this week.
73 cases confirmed there in the 14 days up to Monday see its number stand at 240.2.
