A North Clare mother says red tape surrounding the roll out of a new scheme to reimburse women with the cost of a drug that to help with severe sickness during pregnancy is preventing timely care.
As part of Budget 2023, funding of €1m was allocated to facilitate the reimbursement of the morning sickness drug Cariban, with women told they could avail of the medication free-of-charge from January 1st.
However, the parameters of the scheme were only published on January 3rd and require women to get approval from a consultant.
Kilnaboy mother and Hyperemesis Gravidarum (or HG) sufferer, Orla Meaney, says this delays access to treatment.
