Plans for a new medical centre which will see three North Clare medical practices amalgamate have been given a clean bill of health.
The project will involve the redevelopment of an existing guest and dwelling house on the Lahinch Road in Ennistymon to a medical centre which it’s stated will serve the community “for the next 35 years or more”.
Paul Conway Architects submitted a planning application on behalf of MMD Atlantic Limited on August 23rd of last year for the change of use of Grovemount House at Cloonaveige in Ennistymon to a medical centre.
The application states that MMD Atlantic Limited is an amalgamation of three local medical practices, two of which are in Lahinch while the other is in Corofin.
The development supposedly won’t require the building to be “significantly changed” but will involve the creation of 31 car parking spaces, three of which will be accessible, as well as a bike rack.
On October 16th, Clare County Council requested further information from the applicant, claiming there was “insufficient data” to show the development won’t have a “detrimental impact on the capacity, safety or operational efficiency of the national road network”.
With this information submitted on March 13th of this year, the local authority has subsequently granted planning permission subject to four conditions.
When operational, MMD Atlantic Limited says the medical centre will employ four doctors, two nurses, one receptionist as well as three staff members in administrative roles.
It’s claimed 10 patients will be able to be treated at a time with 10 more able to be accommodated in the waiting room.
