North Clare GP Says County’s Covid Death Rate Stark Reminder Virus Still A Threat

A North Clare GP says the county’s death rate from Covid-19 is a stark reminder that the virus still bears a threat to the community.

New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that in the two years from March 2020 to February of this year that 97 people died in Clare as a result of the virus.

The death toll in the county is the lowest in the province, and pales in comparison to the record 951 covid deaths in Dublin city centre.

However, Lahinch GP, Dr. Michael Kelleher, has been telling Clare FM’s Rebecca O’Sullivan that every unavoidable death is one too many and he’s urging people to prepare for a winter surge.
