A North Clare Councillor insists that the needs of the refugee population should be catered for in the Lisdoonvarna masterplan.
It’s one year ago today since Russia declared war by invading Ukraine, with Clare taking in over 4,000 refugees from the war-torn state in that timeframe.

Approximately 9.5% of the population of North Clare is now Ukrainian, with the population of Lidsoonvarna increasing nearly fourfold in the past year.
Lisdoonvarna Fine Gael Councillor Joe Garrihy, says the arrival of the Ukrainian refugees has proven that rural towns can be livable communities and we need to plan now to maintain them.
