The Government is being called on to improve its line of communication with local representatives in Clare, when it comes to properties earmarked for asylum seekers.
It follows a number of protests in the county which came under the national spotlight in recent months, most notably in Inch, where local demonstrators erected a barricade at Magowna House for six days, following the arrival of International Protection Applicants.
In Corofin, meanwhile, a pensioner was hospitalised, after sufffering an assault at the access point to a dwelling mooted for refugee accommodation.
Corofin based Fiánna Fáíl Councillor, Joe Kileen who raised the matter at this months meeting of Clare County Council, has been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan that successful integration can only be achieved with clear dialogue.
