‘North Clare Communities At Breaking Point With Tourist Traffic’

It’s feared North Clare communities are at breaking point due to the infringement of tourism traffic on their daily lives.

Longstanding issues of noise pollution, congestion and dangers posed to pedestrians on rural roads are once again coming to the fore for residents living near prominent attractions such as the Burren and The Cliffs of Moher.

Clare County Council is set to prepare a traffic management plan for the region which will examine mitigating measures such as road widening and the provision of visitor shuttle busses.

However Corofin Fianna Fáíl Councillor, Joe Kileen who raised the matter at the latest meeting of the Municipal District says the strategy can only work if locals are heeded.
