North Clare Cllr “Bamboozled” At Lack Of Progress On Doolin Pier Bathing Status

A North Clare Councillor says he’s bamboozled as to why no progress has been made to redesignate Doolin Pier as a bathing area.

In January, the local authority rejected applications for Clahane, Kilbaha, Lough Bunny, Brews Bridge and Rinevilla to be granted bathing area status on the grounds they did not meet EPA guidelines following a risk assessment.

The decisions have been fiercely disputed by local groups, with claims that a water quality test was never taken at Doolin Pier as part of one report.
