David Norris’ bid to become the next President is gathering pace once again.
The Senator now has the backing of 12 of the Oireachtas Members needed to get on the ballot paper, after receiving the support of Senator Katherine Zappone.

However with 8 more still needed, time is rapidly running out for him, with just a week left to the close of nominations.
Luke Ming Flanagan is calling on all Oireachtas members – who have not given their support to a candidate – to help facilitate David Norris’ entry into the Aras race.
Deputy Flanagan – who had originally backed the Senator – says he held talks with him yesterday but it was too late to transfer his nomination:
