Non-urgent patients will be transferred to Ennis General Hospital from today, as part of a pilot project to reduce pressure on the emergency department at University Hospital Limerick.
It’s one of a number of protocols being introduced this week to try and ease overcrowding at A&E’s around the country.

If successful, the project could be rolled out further, to ease the pressure on other hospitals.
