No suspension of Clare recycling charges

Recycling Charges won't be suspended in Clare due to fears that the county would lose over half a million euro in Revenue and because the council says it won't stop people dumping rubbish illegally. 

The idea had beeen proposed in a bid to encourage more people to visit Council waste facilities and cut down on incidents of dumping which appear to be on the rise in recent months.

The Council says cutting charges at Waste facilities like Scarriff, Lisdeen, Ennis and Inagh wouldn't guarantee any improvement in the dumping situation and the move could affect the business of local waste disposal companies.
