No Respite Care At Ennistymon Hospital For 12 Of The Past 24 Months

A Clare member of the HSE’s Regional Health Forum West is urging the Government to prioritise the recruitment of respite staff at Ennistymon Community Hospital.

The North Clare nursing home’s nine respite beds have been unavailable for twelve of the previous twenty-four months due to staffing deficits.

The HSE is now planning to increase the number of beds in the long stay unit from 25 to 31 and has submitted a business case for an additional six and a half whole-time equivalent nursing staff for the ward.
