Rent caps have NOT come to the MidWest, at least for now.
Last night, 23 areas were designated as rent pressure zones, including all of Galway and Cork Cities as well as some towns in Counties Meath, Kildare, Wicklow and Cork.
These ensure that rent can only be raised by a maximum of 4 per cent a year in those areas.
It had been expected that Limerick would be included, but that's not the case, though Housing Minister Simon Coveney says the government is taking immediate action to help alleviate the housing crisis.
