It’s claimed rising food inflation is leaving little light at the end of the tunnel for Clare families struggling to make ends meet.
Data from the Irish League of Credit Unions shows consumer confidence dipped in July, with rising food prices and suggestions there won’t be cost-of-living supports in the next budget both feeding into the drop.

Overall, 37 per cent of consumers say the cost-of-living is their main worry.
Manager of St Francis Credit Union in Ennis, Louis Faye says with energy credit likely to be scrapped in the upcoming budget, people are coming under increased, sustained pressure and it’s vital that people budget ahead of pressure points such as back to school costs.
