Diving boards, which were purchased for Kilkee following a local fundraising effort, will not be erected there this summer.

Following a risk assessment of bathing areas in the West Clare resort, manufacturers say they cannot approve the equipment as 'fit for purpose' for the proposed location at Newfy, even though they're to the same specification as boards which were there previously.
As a result, Kilkee Chamber of Commerce says it understands that Clare County Council cannot accept liability for the boards.
It's now hoped that a refund can be secured, and that permanent facilities will be put in place by Clare County Council, but the decision means the town will be without the iconic and popular diving boards this summer.
