The Government have yet to respond to media reports that suggest Bord Gáis underestimated the cost of the Irish Water metering programme by over €100 million.
Sinn Fein is slamming the coalition after it emerged that the cost of installing water meters may be €108 million higher than the detailed estimate provided to the Government over 18 months ago.
In the figures from May 2013, the estimate of the entire cost of the metering programme came to over €431 million – but, just weeks later it emerged that the final cost was €539 million.
Meanwhile, reports say that the Clare woman who is Chair of Irish Water will keep her role despite a reshuffle at the controversial utility.
New Quay native Rose Hynes, who is also Chairman of the Shannon Airport Authority, was appointed as Chair of Irish Water last year, and had served as Chair of Bord Gais since July 2009.
The Irish Independent reports that the lawyer is expected to be appointed chair of Ervia, which will combine Bord Gáis with Irish Water, even though a number of other board members are expected to be dropped.
